Mo Cooper, Community Historian
I am a community historian and heritage manager based in Nottingham. My passion is the history of communities - how do they impact on their locality, and how does the built environment impact on a community.
For more information see
I started my journey in Liverpool's innovative housing cooperative movement of the 1970s, and settled in Nottingham, by way of London, in 2000. I have worked in the voluntary sector all my life - in social housing, regeneration, grassroots community groups and equalities. I have been a campaigner and activist in many fields.
In 2006 I finally got to university to obtain an MA at the University of Leicester's Urban History Department. This has helped me move into a career 'doing history', combining a passion with going to work - how lucky am I!
Nottingham is a fascinating city, and I have enjoyed getting to know the people here, learning about its rich history, and researching the hidden history.
I would love to share what I've learnt with you!
